EVERYTHING x Golden Boot Academy x Naomi Girma

There was slick turf, a biting chill, and soccer balls scattered by the wintry breeze. And in the same breath, there were hushed whispers, giddy players and eager students ready to seize the once in a lifetime opportunity that presented itself. 

With only a couple weeks left in the year, the Golden Boot Academy was hosting 120 players for an all-girls soccer clinic in Orinda, California with special guest mentor Naomi Girma. Girma plays the center back position for San Diego Wave FC and for the Women's U.S. National Team and was coming back home to the Bay Area to impart some wisdom on these young players. Coupled with being a rising star and a generational talent, Girma also featured in the Golden Boot Academy x EVERYTHING Productions film last year, Golden Everything. The EVERYTHING Team and the Golden Boot Academy Team coming together for this unique experience felt like a full circle moment come to fruition. 

The three hour long clinic began how all at the Golden Boot Academy do: with group dancing and letting loose. This sets the tone for the day; these players are here not only to learn from someone who knows the game best and to foster their competitive spirits’, but to have fun in the process too. Once players were delegated to groups, across the pitch, according to their ages, the training began. In between the drills and 1v1s, players had the opportunity to take a one on one photograph with Girma. Arguably garnering the most banter and enthusiasm of the day, players, many of whom were donning Girma’s San Diego Wave jersey, lined up for a quick hello and picture. 

As a part of the Golden Everything film premiere last summer, EVERYTHING collaborated with Golden Boot Academy to create a limited time only jersey. And on this December day, where the rain was finally at bay and the stormy clouds had subsided, four of the top players of the day would receive a limited edition Golden Everything jersey. Not only would these young girls walk away from that turf with unquantifiable lessons and counsel, but they would also have a physical reminder of that unforgettable day.

The girls who attended the Golden Boot Academy clinic were not the only ones walking away with something special. For all she has done for soccer, for her community, and for helping to commemorate Golden Everything, the EVERYTHING team gifted Naomi Girma her very own Golden Everything jersey, as well as pieces from the EVERYTHING Everyday collection. We want to thank Naomi Girma for taking the time to share her everything with these players and for being an exemplary model for players everywhere.
